Nukus, Khiva, Urgench
A cultural 2-Day tour to Nukus and Khiva, cities located in the north-west of Uzbekistan. It is amazing to know how the capital of Autonomous Republic of Karakalpakstan – Nukus – became a home to a unique museum named after Igor Savitsky, who collected works of Russian avant-garde painters censored by Soviet regime. There you will not only see rare paintings of eminent Soviet avant-gardists such as A. Volkov, Usto Mumin, R. Falk, A. Serov, U. Tansykbaev and others. Along with the Soviet avant-garde the museum has a large collection of arts and crafts of the Karakalpaks and peoples of Central Asia.
You will visit the ruins of defense fortresses of Ancient Khorezm, scattered around the desert. Spend the second day in UNESCO World Heritage site Itchan-Kala Fortress, living museum under the open sky in Khiva.
Day 1: Tashkent – Nukus – Khiva
Transfer to domestic airport. Morning flight to Nukus* (1255 km, 2 h. 45 min.). Arrive in Nukus and visit the Savitsky Karakalpakstan Art Museum. The museum hosts the world's second largest collection of Russian avant-garde art and exposition of Karakalpak applied arts items. Have a short drive around center of Nukus: see statue of Karakalpak poet Berdakh, Nukus City Hall, and Drama Theatre. In the afternoon depart to Khiva (200 km, 4-5 h.). On the way visit archaeological monuments of Ancient Khorezm: Chilpyk Zoroastrian dakhma, and Toprak-Kala – the capital of Khorezm dating back to the 3rd century A.D. Arrive in Khiva, check in to the hotel. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 2: Khiva – Urgench – Tashkent
Check-out from hotel till noon. Today you will visit Itchan-Kala Fortress which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The tour features visit to Mukhammad Aminkhan Madrasah, Mukhammad Rahimkhan Madrasah, Kalta-Minor, Juma Mosque, Tash-Khovli Palace, Pakhlavan Makhmud Mausoleum. Try yourself at climbing Islam-Khoja Minaret, the highest minaret in Uzbekistan. Enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of Old Khiva in Kunya-Ark. Free time in the afternoon. In the evening you will be transferred to Urgench airport (30 min.) for flight to Tashkent (1093 km, 1 h. 40 min). Upon arrival transfer to hotel/private residence. End of services.
